Featuring composer Dan
Kallman and the Cavani String
Quartet from the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM). "In
Endless Song: A Mosaic of American Folk Music" for string quartet
and piano was commissioned by Angelica Cantanti for its 20th anniversary
in 2000. It includes seven movements, one for each choir and two
for all the choirs. Angelica is happy to have the Cavani String
Quartet return for a repeat performance of this wonderful piece!
The Cavani String Quartet, winner of the prestigious Naumburg Chamber
Music Award, has been described by the Washington Post as "completely
engrossing, powerful and elegant." In addition to receiving
the Naumburg Award, the Cavani Quartet has been a top prize winner
in numerous competitions and has received countless awards and prizes.
Since their New York debut in 1987, they have won the hearts of
audiences across the country with their soulful and riveting performances.
Cavani violist, Kirsten Docter, was a member of the first Angelica
Cantanti Choir (1980)
Daniel Kallman maintains a large and varied catalog of works for
orchestra, winds, chorus, chamber ensemble and the young musician.
His steady stream of commissions includes music for worship, theater,
dance, radio and the concert stage. Kallman's works are performed
across the United States, Europe and East Asia.
