Having celebrated an invigorating and exciting
25th anniversary season with special guests Cantus, the Cavani String
Quartet, Malcolm Dalglish, Dan Kallman, and Steve Heitzeg, along
with puppet and mask maker Tom Davis, Angelica Cantanti is looking
forward to another season of inspired and creative music making!
An October collaborative concert with the highly acclaimed professional
male vocal ensemble Cantus
will start the season. Angelica male singers, of all ages, will
be included in music making with the richly talented and inspiring
singers of Cantus. Also invited to this exciting event will be boys
from all Bloomington Schools, the Edina High School Male Chorus
and their fathers, (they meet once a week in the early morning for
rehearsals) and the Appleton Boychoir. Prior to the concert young
singers will experience a workshop with Cantus. This is an inspiring
and interactive opportunity to learn from professionals in the field.
Cantus is imaginatively adept at making the learning experience
fast-paced and fun. An early evening concert will feature all of
the participants. The Monday following this workshop and concert,
the participants will travel to schools in the area to give concerts.
"Creative, energetic, engaging, charismatic, fun, great musician,
good rehearsal technician, used the kids' musical language to teach
other musical concepts - his work with young singers is amazing!!!"
In February Angelica Singers and guest choirs will have the opportunity
to make music with the very popular clinician, conductor, composer,
and educator from Chicago, Rollo
Dilworth. His performing endeavors have taken him to the continents
of Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. In addition to composing
choral music, Dilworth's research interests are in the areas of
African-American music and music education curriculum and instruction.
Although his academic, educational and composing endeavors have
gained him great respect around the world, it is his ability to
connect with young singers with overflowing energy and enthusiasm
that will make a difference in the lives of the singers who will
be privileged to work with him in February in Bloomington.
