PROGRAMMING

The ACYC GLEE Choir provides an opportunity for students with varying abilities to grow musically in a fun and safe environment. Through thoughtful instruction and compassion, every singer feels seen, valued, and supported.

• The instruction is designed to meet the abilities of children with physical, social, emotional, and/or intellectual challenges

• The weekly one hour class will including singing, playing rhythm instruments, creative movement and listening activities

GOALS

• GLEE Choir will nurture self-esteem, pride and emotional well-being

• Students will experience the joy of singing and making music together

• Students will grow as musicians in a welcoming, safe environment

• Students will build confidence, friendships, and social skills

• GLEE Choir will celebrate every singer’s unique voice and abilities

CLASS DETAILS

• For singers in grades 4 – 12. No audition required.

• Thursdays, 5:00pm – 6:00pm

• A parent, guardian, personal care assistant (PCA), or other designated support person must remain in the classroom or nearby in the building for the duration of the 60-minute class

• Singers should enroll for the full year and attend every week

• Location: Rehearsal Hall, Bloomington Center for the Arts, 1800 W. Old Shakopee Rd, Bloomington

• Cost: Registration $25 non-refundable to save spot. $260 for full year payment ($10 a class)

• Financial aid/scholarships available. Please register to save your spot and we will contact you will details.

• All are welcome! New singers may join anytime in the year if space is available.

MEET THE DIRECTOR

Sarah Gilbertson is a choral educator with more than 30 years of experience helping young singers grow in musicianship, confidence, collaboration, and life skills through music. Since 2009, she has served as Director of Choral Activities at Chanhassen High School, where she creates inclusive, student-centered learning environments for singers of all abilities. In addition to directing choirs, Sarah is a Unified Arts teacher, co-teaching courses that promote student engagement, mentorship, and meaningful connections among learners. She holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor of Music Education from Gustavus Adolphus College, and is passionate about ensuring every student feels valued, supported, and empowered through music.
